Philip Martin is the Superintendent of Terrebonne Parish School District, a role that gives him charge over the academic achievement of the more than 18,000 students in grades Pre-K through 12, enrolled in one of Terrebonne Parish's 36 schools. Terrebonne is one of the largest school districts in Louisiana and consistently ranks in the top quartile in student performance in the state. A long-time resident of Terrebonne Parish, Mr. Martin knows the system from a first-person point of view, from being a graduate of the public school system he now oversees, to a teacher in its classrooms, to an assistant principal and principal and now as Superintendent. His philosophy of education is focused on student achievement through quality education, innovation and a focus on the whole school experience. Beyond his role as Superintendent, Mr. Martin is a father of two and a very proud grandfather of six. When he can, he spends his days fishing and hunting in Louisiana. He maintains an open door policy and welcomes input and inquiries from the community he serves and can be reached by email at pmartin@tpsd.org or by phone at (985) 876-7400.
